Is SMP Noticeable?
So scalp micropigmentation is not noticeable if it’s well blended. Scalp micropigmentation is noticeable if you don’t use a cohesive hairstyle if that’s necessary. So I realized that this sounds like a confusing explanation but I’m gonna unpack it a little bit here.
If you have scalp micropigmentation done on the top and crown of your head because that is where your thinning is, and you leave the sides long, it is going to be noticeable…
But it’s noticeable in a way that you would notice someone who had shaved just this part of their head and not the sides. So the key to scalp micropigmentation looking realistic and not being noticed as an irregularity, instead of being noticeable because someone looks like they have a really nice shaved head or someone looks really good because it doesn’t look like they have a spot or they have a lot of thinning. Then, what we’re talking about here is continuity of style.

So if you style your hair in such a way that it complements your scalp micropigmentation or your scalp micropigmentation is done so that it complements your hairstyle, then it’s not noticeable.
It is noticeable if you let your hair grow out too long. If you needed to go ahead and buzz your head in order to make a cohesive style, just because of where your hair loss was, but if you have a single spot at the top of your head, like a lot of women then no, it’s the opposite of noticeable. In fact, scalp micropigmentation is much less noticeable than hair loss is. So if you have scalp micropigmentation in order to cover hair loss, then it’s going to be much less noticeable.
What if my scalp micropigmentation procedure is botched?
If you get a bad hair tattoo or you have botched scalp micropigmentation, then yes, it’s very noticeable. But really the only key in telling what scalp micropigmentation is going to be if your pigment was not well matched to you and then if there’s a lot of blowouts.
What is a tattoo blowout?
Now, blowout refers to spreading around implantation. So if you put a really tiny hair follicle replication and do it too deeply, it will spread and when it spread, it can sometimes look unnatural. That said if you go to someone who’s skilled that rarely happens, and honestly, blowouts are something that you see with people who are less experienced and don’t know what they’re doing. So that’s something you can avoid by choosing a good practitioner. So just to clarify, good SMP is not noticeable as unnatural. Good SMP is noticeable because it looks clean, it looks healthy, your hair looks denser, and you look younger, more aware, fresher, and your face is framed better and so, those are all things that I want people to notice about me personally.
So it depends on what you’re worried about being noticed for. If you’re concerned about being noticed for being unnatural, choose a good practitioner, and then choose a style that’s easy to maintain that complements your scalp micropigmentation. Now if you’re worried about your scalp micropigmentation being too noticeable because your hairline looks super defined, you look younger, you look fresher, you look healthier. That’s something I can definitely help you with.
